Thread: Starting Up 4500

    Question Starting Up 4500

I have my entire avionic's package wired: Garmin Audio; 430; 330 transponder; ARINC; 4500;,Trio Auto Pilot, etc. I DO NOT have is my engine, which is on order.

My question is; can I fire up the 4500 and the other components before all the other wiring is completed, such as MAP, Red cube, engine CHT, EGT, fuel tanks, OAT,etc.

I want to check and or upgrade 4500 software, check moving map and other 4500 parameters. Obviously I can't calibrate anything at this time, unless there is something I can do; just not sure. I don't want to mess anything up if I power up my systems without everything being wired.

A side note: all wires that are "hanging" do have wire nuts on them, so there is no chance of shorting out.

    thanks.

    Henry,
I have dual 4500s and used to fire them up all the time. Shouldn't be a problem.

Not a problem if you have ensured no wires are touching each other or an electrical ground.
