    AP HDG mode AWOL

    Hello AFS people!

I am hoping you can help me resolve an issue with my AFS 5600: I can no longer engage the HDG mode on the autopilot. Repeated presses of the HDG button fail to change the mode from NAV to HDG. This worked for five years, but recently stopped.

I have a 2013 vintage AFS 5600, connected to a Garmin 650, and Tru Trak autopilot in a Glasair Sportsman. I am running the X12.08.10-MV16 system software from 5/9/18, which is the latest for my non-touch screen. If I engage heading mode on the Tru Trak autopilot’s circular, panel-mounted control head, that still works, so I don’t think it’s the Tru Trak. I have not changed any avionics components or wiring, so I am mystified as to what could cause it.

    Any ideas?

    Shawn,
Thanks for the reply. I ran into Rob Hickman at the AFS booth at Oshkosh, and he speculated that I had inadvertently turned off my heading bug.
SET/EFIS/HDG BUG did the trick, which I happily verified on the flight home from the show.
    Thanks,
    Bob
