5600pfd, 3400mfd - Will it work?
I just bought an older Glastar with a 3400 non-s pfd with engine monitor capability. I?ve flow behind dual 5600?s in my RV9 and will be installing a single 5600 as pfd on the GS. My question is can I use the 3400 as a mfd, and if so, how much data can be shared? The current GS panel doesn?t have enough space for dual 5600?s.
The dash will be a full AFS install - ACM, single 5600, remote comm2, IFD540, remote ADSB,remote audio panel, remote transponder, remote engine monitor 220 box.
OR I can not use the EMS-220 and keep engine monitor functions on the 3400.
The latest software for the 3400 mentioned something about ?5600 compatibility ? - didn?t know what that meant.
Also do I need more serial ports than what a single 5600 provides?
Other option is to scrap the current panel and 3400 and go with new Sportsman panel w dual 5600/6600 screen.
Advice appreciated.

I’m on my third iteration panel. Iteration 1 was 4500s with a 3400. Iteration 2 was 5500s with a 3400. Iteration 3 is 6600s with a 5500.
The 3400 will have an OS version that hasn’t been updated in years, so many of the desirable new features aren’t present. Basic data is shareable across the network. Because of its age the 3400 processor, graphics, and memory is slower than molasses when compared to a 5500. The 6600 makes that gap even larger.
The 5500 and 6600 run the same OS. Naturally, the 6600 has better performance and graphics.
Check with Tricia or Jennifer at AFS if their trade in program is in effect. Under the program you can trade your 3400 for 25% off a 6600. That’s what I did last year. Trade in both and get a pair of 6600s for an optimal panel.
