    Software Update - Emergency Glide

Saw the announcement at Oshkosh about the new software. Just wondering when it will be available.

Reviving this question, though not sure anyone is monitoring the forum much anymore...

Didn't make it to Oshkosh this year and was wondering if anything became of this for AFS. I believe Dynon has it already.

Emergency glide is coming with 17.1.0 EFIS software which is due to be released ASAP. We had hoped to have it ready for Oshkosh but could not quite make that schedule.

Any updates on the emergency glide and the new SiriusXM device?

I updated both of my EFIS screens yesterday with the new 17.01.01 software. I followed the instructions step by step and got there.
Actually they are pretty good instructions with screen grabs to help.
I have a couple of issues to work out.
The annoyng one is the screens both show a warning "Emergency Glide needs calibration" note which I can't find a way to do, or dismiss.
I went and updated the glide data and saved it on both screens and still couldn't get rid of the notification for long.
    I did this multiple times.
I ended up flying for an hour with the box on the screen without an issue.
I almost always find the culprit is me, so I'm looking for suggestions for doing it right.
    Any thoughts?

Mike can I confirm that you are running 17.01.01 public release software, and not an earlier 17.1.0 beta somehow? We did have issues with the notification not always disappearing after setting the emergency glide configuration but we believe that issue was resolved. Also, do you have the SkyView autopilot servos, or do you have an older Trutrak autopilot?

Does it work with the Trutrak autopilot?

Emergency glide does not work with Trutraks. There is no way to externally command a Trutrak to pitch for a given indicated airspeed, which is required for emergency glide to work.

    Hello Jonathan
Sorry for the delay, I've been out of town for awhile. I purchased the servos from AFS in 2019 when you built the panel. The bill of materials just lists roll and pitch servos. I assume they are from Dynon. I will check the op system software this afternoon out at Mulino. I received that upgrade on a thumbdrive from you in October 2025 when you repaired my efis screen. The logbook says V-17-00-03 was installed on both screens. I'll check and see if I have installed a later version.
    Thanks
    Mike

    Hi Jonathan
I've double checked everything. I had installed the 17.01.01 version already. I downloaded the software again and reinstalled it as well as the network update. The glide dialog box still is there with no way to dismiss it.
    Any thoughts?
    All the best.
