Well, I spoke too soon. I flew yesterday and my ipad and iphone both disconnected during the outbound trip and would not reconnect. The key symptom here is that when I try to reconnect I get an error on the ipad saying "Incorrect Password" for the WiFi connection. Obviously the password stored in both the ipad and iphone do not simultaneously get corrupted. Therefore the WiFi dongle must be the culprit.

It's worth trying a new dongle at this point, we are not getting widespread reports of outright failures to connect to the wi-fi. Important to note that the Dynon wi-fi dongle widely sold has changed to a completely different model, and it is not compatible with original generation AF-5000 touchscreens (unless they have specifically been upgraded to the Intel CPU in the AF-6600, as we have offered since 2022).

We do have stock of the legacy dongles, they are available here:

I ordered a new one, thanks.

Jonathon, is there any procedure I need to do once I replace the WiFi dongle? Or is the SSID and password etc stored in the EFIS without caring about a dongle change?

The settings are stored in the EFIS, just make sure that the dongle is plugged in before the EFIS is powered on, otherwise it will fail to load the device drivers if you try to hot plug it afterward.
