Jonathon or Rob,

Question on future capabilities:

The Sentry ADS-B collects g-force readings and provides these to Foreflight for turbulence readings in the Foreflight map interface. This provides an enormous benefit over PIREPS which are dependent on pilots (humans) to provide and are difficult to create or read.

Is there any possibility of doing something like this (and more) with the AFS EFIS?

The turbulence data is obvious and available from the G-force readings. However, when flying, the predicted wind and direction by altitude on ADS-B is notoriously sparse and inaccurate. Yet every plane with an EFIS can track the ground speed and compass heading and thereby calculate the wind speed and direction. This data could be sent over the ADS-B channel and made available to the entire community. Foreflight will provide the turbulence readings for free for those who provide the data, i.e. if you own a Sentry and allow it. Otherwise it is a higher level subscription.

The ADS-B interface does have True Airspeed as an option but nobody seems to populate that data element.

Just throwing out ideas. :-)
