Thread: internal gps

    Question internal gps

Is the AFS GPS capable enough to use as primary flight guidance?

When combined with your Mapping and Weather features, seems as if you should have everything you need for navigation.

So what's the point of buying a Garmin for VFR use only?

Yes the AFS-GPS accessory is a 5hz WAAS capable GPS. It sends us more accurate position information than a Garmin GNS-430! For VFR flight, there is no need for a Garmin GNS-430/530. Right now we have direct-to navigation but will soon be expanding our flight plan features to allow for multiple waypoints.
