    Fuel tank calibration

Soon, I will be calibrating the capacitance fuel gauges in my RV-7 and at the same time thought I would also calibrate the fuel gauges on the AFS 4500. In your Installation and User's Manual, version 6.6, on page 68, under "Fuel Tank Calibration," step 2, it states to "Verify that the Tank is Empty." A simple question---Verify that the tank is physically empty (no fuel in it) or just indicated empty on the 4500?

You will want to start with the fuel tanks empty of fuel. The 4500 needs to know the AD Value that correlates with 0 gallons. You will then add fuel in 2 or 4 gallon increments (whatever you decide). The 4500 will then know what AD value to correlate with 0,2,4,6,8 ....etc gallons.
