    EFIS Settings FD for RV7

    AF-4500 , 300XL, AP

Course interception using the 300XL directly works very well with the AP however using the FD I have wild overshoots coming onto a heading. Because the 300XL is intercepting so well out of the box I presume the internal AP settings are pretty good.

Can anyone share what FD settings seemed to work the best for them in a RV7?
The only complaint is coming into an existing track from a large angle. Is Roll GAIN the only adjustment or is there something else for course interception?

Once on track both FD and 300XL are amazing!

If the flight director bars are magenta the flight director is only displaying the commanded roll angle from the 300XL, the EFIS gain settings have nothing to do with it.

If the flight director bars are yellow it is following the heading bug and the EFIS roll gain is adjusting it.

I'll check that this weekend. If the 4500 only sets parameters in the GPS unit then that may be my problem. The 300XL is an old unit and not listed on any examples. I have my doubts that it can receive a course setup from the 4500. It seems to me I have even seen an alert message to that effect on the 300XL
